For the past two years, MEMA has been working with eight communities to create and develop a regional disaster shelter plan that could be implemented in a large-scale disaster. The regional shelter planning process has included the towns of: Weymouth, Hull, Cohasset, Norwell, Hanover, Scituate, Hingham, and Rockland, with participation from emergency management, public health, fire, police, animal control officers, and non-profit organizations, such as American Red Cross. With the new CMS requirements, we would like to invite your agency to our next quarterly meeting to learn about the regional shelter system, as well as local shelter plans. This is a great opportunity to meet your local Emergency Manager.
